About UIL

The University of Iceland Lottery (UIL) is totally owned by the University of Iceland and is run with the objective of generating funds for the construction of buildings and the acquisition of equipment for the university. Since its very foundation in 1933, the UIL has funded the construction of all the university’s buildings. The premises and equipment of the university are therefore not financed by the tax payer, but mainly by the UIL’s contributions to the University.

The UIL runs three forms of lotteries: A class lottery, scratch ticket lottery and Video Lottery Terminals (VLT).

Its openings hours are on all week days between 8:00 and 16:00 hrs, with the exception of the last two days preceding the Main Draw when it remains open between 8:00 and 18:00 hrs.
